We are happy to present the second instalment of our mini compilation series. Featuring music from Xol, James Guida, Sprinks and Cashew, 'Casera Two' explores a mix of sounds from restrained electronics to off-kilter psych-pop.
Xol:
The Geelong based artist offers up a beautiful lo-fi drone piece as her debut release. With an alluring aesthetic and a desire for anonymity, ‘Gerard Avenue’ embodies Xol's approach to ambient music which is both earnest and understated.
James Guida:
Following Xol, James Guida’s 'Apocryphal of Fictitious Inventions' has been playing non-stop in our home since the first listen. A psychedelic haze of brilliant melody and wonderfully wobbly guitars. You may have heard James’ music previously under aliases such as Laguna and Environments, as well as his killer basslines with Dreamin’ Wild. A dedicated, DIY bedroom producer who is carving out a unique blend of nostalgic folk and psychedelic pop. We are very much looking forward to hearing more of James’ musical gems.
Sprinks:
To follow his contribution to Part I of the series, Sprinks presents 'Surface Tension'. Another beautiful ambient-break track from Melbourne based artist Sam Donaldson. A name that many in the community are familiar with from his huge contribution to visual art across events, posters, record art and web design. ‘Surface Tension’ playfully blends a bubbling synth, guitars, euphoric drone, jungle breaks n bass to create an intimate piece of audible bliss. More music from Sam around the corner!
Cashew:
To close Casera II, Winchelsea based Casey Hartnett presents ‘Magpie’. Percussive electronics keep the ears active as the repetition of a single chord remains. A gorgeous, meditative piece exploring generative arrangement processes. Casey has been involved with many projects over the years. As musician he has performed with Sleep Decade, Sui Zhen, Mallee Songs, Love Migrate and Sagamore. As audio engineer he has recorded, mixed and mastered numerous recordings. Recently Casey has collaborated with Corin Ileto & Becky Freeman as ‘Natural Progression Studios’; composing score and sound design for several exhibitions at Art Gallery of NSW, an upcoming exhibition at the Immigration Museum, and contributed to the performance of an original score for ‘Hear My Eyes’ screening of “Drive” at MIFF in 2018. A well overdue solo debut, we’re delighted to bring you ‘Magpie’.
